Xbox Home Gold Sharing problem

My roommate recently got his hands on an Xbox one and I figured I'd use the game sharing feature to allow him to play some of my games to get him started. The game sharing works fine, the games are downloading as we speak, however, I also noticed you were
suppose to be able to share your Xbox live with another account assuming you set the console as the home console.

I tried to do this for him but could not get it to work, I looked at my account and gold sharing is on and when I tried to click "stop sharing" to see if I could get it to work, it brought me to the home console option and only allowed me to click "This
is not my home Xbox."

What could be going wrong that is allowing me to not share my gold with him? Everything I looked up said it should just work as long as the home console is set and sharing is on...

Your console has to be set as the home console. The team owning the gold account must be the home console. Good Luck!

 

If I sign into his account on mine and set my Xbox as his home console, it will work? Will I still be able to share games?

To clear it up. You need to assign your account on his console as the home xbox. When you're signed in on his console then go to the home xbox settings. It will show you that "This is not my home Xbox", then when you click it, it will then be your home xbox.
That's already set and everything should work fine.

 

Sorry to reply so late, my friend was using a trial period for the time being. Unfortunately SingCongButas25 was not correct, when I clicked the "this is not my home Xbox" button, it only prompted me to delete the Xbox as my home Xbox. It was already the
home Xbox as he and I have already shared games.

 

Me and my partner decided to use the game sharing feature, it worked perfectly! I was able to use his Xbox live and play the games on the account since Christmas 2014 .. However for no known reason it has stopped working. I can no longer get online or play
any games. We have tried reconnecting but comes up saying " can not have the Xbox as your Xbox home, you can only gave 1 Xbox home at a time and can only change console 3 times every year.. But we've never connected more than once? I was wondering if anyone
knew how to fix this and continue sharing games

I don't think you guys fully understand what home console and sharing is

I. Order to use home gold the accounts must be registered on the home console

However they are only gold on the home console so if you go to another console or your own you cannot be gold unless you buy your own membership

Home gold only applies to one console if you change the home console the way that it isn't intended that's what happems

If your friends console has gold your account can only be gold on that console or anything console with home gold

So if your home console doesn't have gold you need to have gold

Home consoles are only intended for families not the whole neoghborhood

So if you share your content with friends your console won't have gold only your account as you gave the home gold to your friend

 

Chuck you aren't gold that's why you cannot play online

You would only be able to use his gold on his console as you designated his as your home console

So you would need gold on your console and that person's account should only have. The home consolw

This is why only families should be using it

I'm having this issue too. I've done everything the video said to do. I'm set to "no barriers", the console is set to "home Xbox" for myself & both of the other screen names on the console, yet neither of them show that they have access to Gold.

 

my son's xbox sharing only works on my isp once he goes to his mom's house that console no longer is allowing gold or game sharing. Bring it to my place works fine goes back to moms changes nothing and it says he needs gold lol. Last month my own account
said I needed gold when I clearly just re did my gold and it was an issue on Xbox side. Pretty sure they've been doing this randomly so it forces ppl to go forget it im buying gold . Scamming ppl to get to buy more gold that's my theory it literally makes
no other sense other than that

 

I am having this issue too. I bought gold for my son. He set the xbox as his home xbox and downloaded his games. He can get online without issue. However, his brothers cannot get on gold.

We have a second xbox in the house. It is set as my home xbox and everyone can get online without a problem.
