    Xbox Home Button Not Working


    I will start from the beginning. Last night my controller turned off when I ran out of batteries mid-game. I used the USB port on the back and the side of the Xbox to try to charge it but it didn't work. Every once in awhile the controller would buzz and
    I would be able to use it for around 20 seconds then it would shut off.

    Soon afterwards I went to bed. Next morning I woke up and the controller was still plugged up and it was working like normal. I unplugged it and then I left home and came back and now it is acting weird. First of all the home button is not working. At first,
    when I came back I could turn the controller on the home button worked fine and then the controller would press the home button on its own then shut off. At that point, the only way I could get it back on was to take out battery then put it back in. Now The
    home button does not do anything. I went to the Xbox accessory lab app and now when I press the home button it does nothing at all. All my other buttons work. So then I started doing the typical fixes like restarting and power cycling my Xbox and neither works.
    I decided to search up the troubleshoot and see if that worked but none did. Now I don't know what to do.

    P.S. My controller turns on automatically when I put batteries nto it

    Pressing and holding the button on the controller only turns the controller off. It will turn the system on, however, but that's it.

    Sorry to hear it. Can you please try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down? That should fix it for you

    The first thing I'd do is test to make sure it's an issue with the controller, and not it's connection to the device.

    Can you try connecting it via USB to the console and see if the home button still does not work? Or hook it up to a Windows 10 PC via USB or Bluetooth and see if the Home button opens up Game Bar?

    If it does not, then we have at least identified the issue as a problem with the controller, and not necessarily the console. And at that point I would recommend looking at your warranty replacement for the controller (Accessory under the console) at
    Microsoft Device Support site here.
