Xbox Holiday Update (1610) FAQ

Hey guys! As many of you know, there has been a Preview update out for a small portion of the Preview Program and guess what? It’s finally here for everyone! There’s a lot of really new and exciting features so we hope you’re all as excited to try them out
as we are.

Q: What’s new to this update?

A: Lots of really neat features such as:

*Clubs

*Looking For Group (LFG)

*Achievement Rarity

*Group Messaging

*Gamerscore Leaderboards

*Keyboard emojis





Q: What are Clubs?

A: Clubs are groups that are created by you and your fellow gamers that can help you meet others that share the same interests on Xbox Live.





Q: Who can make a Club? Are there limits to the number of clubs you can make?

A: Anyone! Everyone has the ability to create Clubs. Each gamer can create a max of 3 Public Clubs and 20 Hidden Clubs.





Q: Public, Private, and Hidden Clubs? What’s the difference?

A: Public Clubs are visible to everyone on Xbox Live and anyone can request to join. Private Clubs are hidden from view but are able to be found by other gamers who may then request to join the Private Club. Hidden Clubs, as implied by the name, are hidden
and are only accessible via invitation to the Club.





Q: I don’t like the name I gave my Club. What do?

A: Luckily Club names can be changed and are not set in stone.





Q: Any other cool stuff to set my Club apart?

A: You can customize your Club’s description, tags, Profile Picture, Background Image, and color. And any of that can be changed at any time!

There is also a Chat that can be utilized my Club members. This acts like a social media conversation and you can tag other members by using “@Gamertag” when posting. And don’t forget the activity feed where you can show off the cool stuff you, or your friends,
are doing with the rest of your Club!





Q: What’s this “Looking For Group” feature?

A: Looking For Group (LFG) is a way for gamers to connect with other gamers who are looking to play games together or for specific activities in a game. (Looking for a Destiny Raid group? This is up your alley!) The LFG feature is accessible from the Club
menu.

Gamers wanting to utilize this LFG feature can search for specific groups by Gamertag, you can sort Groups by language, and by activity date.





Q: Do I have to be part of a Club to use their LFG feature?

A: If you come across a Club that is looking for gamers to do an activity and you can see it, you can select the LFG activity and express your interest in joining.





Q: What exactly is “Achievement Rarity” and how does it work?

A: Now you’ll know if that achievement you worked really hard for was a common one to unlock or one of the rarer ones from the game. When you unlock a rare achievement, you’ll be rewarded with a unique notification sound and animation.

Achievement rarity will vary by title.





Q: I want to send something to a lot of friends…I can do that now?

A: Yes! This update brings with it Group Messaging! Much like a group text or group chat on other chat platforms, you will be able to invite up to 31 (for a total of 32 gamers) of your closest Xbox Live friends and have an on-going chat in one message.





Q: I left people out when I made my Group Message, help!

A: Don’t worry, you can add people (up to the max of 32 members) throughout the conversation. Do note that people added mid-conversation will not be able to see previous messages so you may have to repeat things to get everyone up to speed.

Additionally, do note that any member of the Group Message can add other gamers to join in the fun.





Q: How can I utilize Group Messaging – is it on Xbox One console only?

A: Nope! Group Messaging will be cross-platform and will be available for use on multiple devices.





Q: Uh my friends added me to this massive Group Message that is spamming my inbox. What can I do??

A: If it’s a conversation you may want to pop into every now and then, you can mute notifications for the Group Message from the message options. Or, if you really want no part of it, you can leave the conversation and you will no longer receive messages
from that Group Message.





Q: It’s 2016 – can we use emojis yet?

A: Yes! Emojis have arrived. You can access the emoji menu by pressing LT on your Xbox One controller while composing an Xbox Live Message on your Xbox One console.





Q: I’ve been grinding games and earning Gamerscore left and right, how can I show that off?

A: You’re in luck! This update also ushers in the Gamerscore Leaderboard. You can find this on your Xbox Live profile page under the “Achievements” tab. You’ll be able to see the top 3 Gamerscore earners and where you rank amongst your friends. Go earn those
bragging rights!

Unable to access preview program forums.

But I can tell you that not everyone that is in preview was moved to 1610 - only a small percentage was moved over to the newest build.

 

1610/1610 Club

I haven't done the Mile High on COD4 yet. I've heard it's challenging, I'm excited to do it.

As for the campaign and achievements for MW3...I hope BO2 is a bit more challenging. This game, has probably been the easiest 1000 (before DLC naturally) I've ever earned.
