Xbox Headset stuck on mute...and now the Stereo adapter is also stuck on mute

Been having issues w/ my headset where the mute light is always on so I can't hear or talk to anyone in MP games. Tried 2 different controllers so I thought it was the headset. Now the adapter that came w/ the Premium Stereo Headset is also stuck on mute.
I'm not starting to think its a preference or system issue instead of hardware....unless of course both my controllers are SOL.

Anyone else experience this?

My Xbox one stereo headset adapter is stuck on mute and I have to update my controller with the adapter but it's still stuck on mute, any suggestions?

 

Hello my name is Aidan and I am having problems with my cereal headset adapter it is stuck on mute

my Xbox one stereo headset adapter is stuck on mute I push the button and it doesn't work I try to update the controller it says it doesn't need to be updated please help me I don't know what to do I tried restarting my Xbox I did nothing I put the stereo
headset adapter and another controller and it just won't work it's stuck on mute and I can't Fix it help

 

Fixed it..i think.

Plug the adapter with the controller and update the controller again using the micro usb. no batteries. I think the servers were having issues w/ the update earlier since i got an error of failed update. even though i updated the controllers yesterday.

 

Had same problem updated controllers and back up and running as normal

 

Yup that's the trick. My son was having the same thing happen and PorkFryRice's solution fixed it!!!
