Xbox Headset recognized, but not able to talk

Xbox Chat Issue (Mic Icon Always On Even When Unplugged)

Come on Microsoft, you can do better than this. I just got this issue with the headset. It's on, plugged in, not muted, NAT open, privacy chat is open to everybody, factory reset, tried on multiple working controllers and headsets. Brought it in to game stop
where they tested multiple working controllers and headsets. I've run through every troubleshooting thing microsoft support has thrown at me. There's no reason ALLLL of us are still left in the dark. It's ruining xbox live for lots of us. Give us some sort
of update.

How do we activate ability to talk thru xbox

First you need to plug in a headset or earphones if you still can't talk you need to go to settings and set mic on if you still can't talk try to powercycle if after you done all those things and still not able to talk on xbox then your headset/earphones
might not work correctly and i recommend to buy a new headset

 

Controller and Headset issues

So I just bought an xbox one gears of war edition with 500gbs. I also bought an Afterglow lvl 3 headset with it so I could talk to my friends. My xbox and controller work wonderfully, but when I plug in my mic it isn't even recognized. I've gone through
what the support says and I've factory reset the system yet nothing has changed. My headset works perfectly on my phone and computer.
