    only had less than 6o days cant register it as doesn't see the serial number as it has letters and is unusable and I'm in UK and dont get help from where I bought it they advise go through Microsoft for repair/refund but get know where registering device
    incompatible serial number I need this fixing or replacing

    Some headphones don’t work on XBOX you can check that by looking it up.
    this an official Microsoft stereo headset with adapter and teh mic isn't working cant register it as a device due to incompatible serial number and less than 60 days old was working now its faulty not getting anywhere on this

    I HAVE IDENTIFIED THE CULPRIT! It is the 3.5mm slot on the Xbox One controller.

    So I took all my gear to a friends house to test everything out on his network with his Xbox One and equipment. Synced my controller to his Xbox and had the same problem. I then plugged in his Xbox headset adapter to my setup (He has an older controller
    without the headset jack) and everything worked smoothly if I used a headset adapter.

    So, the problem is either the headset jack on my controller or something to do with the firmware that prevents the jack from being used properly. The only reason I'm hesitant to just say it is a faulty 3.5mm connector on the controller is because my mic
    is responsive to the mic monitoring volume controls on the Xbox. Then again, I'm no mic expert so it may very well be a faulty controller.

    Sucks that I need to get an adapter now to get a headset working on my controller that supposedly doesn't need one...

    I will mark this as solved once I get my own headset adapter tomorrow and have everything running smoothly

    Stuck on mute

    Headset and mic working fine. Turned on sytem and mute button stays on. Headset work and mic work fine but wont work when plugged into controller
    You will probably need a headset adapter to bypass the 3.5mm input which may be faulty but have a look at this Support
    article to update headset    .

    The headset could be broken, or the port where you plug in the headset in your controller. I’d try exchanging it or testing if its the controller with a different headset. If it doesnt work, then I believe it’s faulty wiring in the new mic.
