Xbox headset keeps going quiet, help

I have the default xbox headset and i can see my friends talking on party but i cant hear them and sometimes i can hear them but it goes quiet again.

xbox 360 E worth it?

I have an Xbox 360 E and it is extremely quiet. Installing some games also helps to keep your console quiet and make games run smoothly.

If the loudness of the 360 Elite bothers you, then I'd upgrade to the X360 E

X12 Headset - Super Quiet Voice?

Turtle Beach X12 headset is super quiet for some reason. They can hear me fine but other people are quiet. Voice chat volume on the xbox and on the headset is turned all the way up. The USB/audio cables are plugged in, as is the one going to the controller
and the game sound is fine.

What would cause this?

Yes, I have been having the same issue for about a week now. One minute my volume is what it usually is and I can everyone talking fine. Then, without reason, everyone is quiet. Not muted, I can hear them very quietly but to the point I cannot understand
them. Then, again without reason, the volume is back up to normal.

I'm using an Afterglow LVL 1 chat headset, my controller is up to date.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. Are you also using a third-party headset like Ry Fryy? If so, are you able to test an official Xbox One chat headset to see if there is any change in performance with that?

Somehow the cables of the Xbox Headsets are quiete fragile, it might be the cable that doesn’t work properly.

This is my first headset to xbox, but the sound is coming out of the tv so its not quiet or something like that.

It is a wired Hornet headset, Console is Xbox One S, I have updated my Controller in hopes that it would help solve the issue which it has not. (It was still low before the controller update).

Have you tried plugging the headset into something else like a phone, stereo etc, basically anything with the same 3.5mm jack? Just so we can rule the headset out as the cause of it...if it's still quiet, then it's the headset...it's quite common in cheap wired headsets
