    XBox headset jack issue


    Hi MS tech support, I just needed to pass on something that I researched today about my son's Xbox one S all-digital console. He loves this game console and I noticed for some time now when he is playing with his friends he hasn't been using his headset, I asked him and he said it hasn't been working for a while so I went out and bought him a Brand new XBOX brand headset, still nothing. Took those back and bought a Turtle Beach XBOX headset, the same thing, so I researched and came across this MS chat room about this issue and was totally amazed at the number of people who are having all the same issues. So my question is, how can everybody all at the same timeframe and update, result in the same scenario, very odd? His headset works great on his Amazon HD Fire, on my Acer Laptop, so the device is working properly, I think some of these people are correct about this OS update. You can respond with whatever answer you wish to tell me, I'm all ears, thanks Richard

    Hi Hassan!

    There's a possibility that the issue may be on your controller headset jack. To further isolate the issue, try to use a different controller with your headset. Maybe your controller headset jack needs cleaning.

    When it comes to headset troubleshooting there are a number of things to try to narrow down the issue to the headset or the controller. Does your headset connecting using an audio jack or through a headset adapter?

    With the introduction of the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Xbox controllers, you are able to virtually connect mostly any headset but some may not be compatible due to the

    audio jack standards    .

    If the headset cuts out periodically then it may be due to the audio jack not being the right standard or the audio jack port in the controller is not functioning properly.

    To troubleshoot your Xbox I recommend to
    power cycle     the unit.

    Sorry to hear it. It may be the controller. Sometimes the 3.5 mm jack can get knocked out of placement causing issues with the mic. I would recommend trying an Xbox headset adapter to see if that helps. The adapter will keep the jack steady.

    I've been using one exclusively since the Xbox One came out and have never had an issue with my jack or headset.

    It could be that the headset is faulty now or that the jack in the controller itself is the issue. How old is the headset and controller ? What brand is the headset ?

    Plugged Xbox One headset in the Universal Audio Jack on the front of my PC and it doesn't show up in Sound and doesn't work.

    Does a different set of headphones work in the same PC jack? It is possible that the jack has an issue, and will not support any headsets.
