    Xbox HDMI doesn't play audio?

I have the old, white Xbox. A while back, my sister had moved it and ever since, the HDMI output works but doesn't play audio. If I use a different cord, it doesn't work. If I use the S-Video cord, the audio works. I want to play my games in HD with audio.
I think something is wrong with my HDMI port, it's a bit busted up. I'll post a picture of the port:

Any ideas on what's wrong and/or how I can fix the problem?

    :)

Can I play on a monitor that doesn't have an HDMI port?

I'm considering purchasing a monitor to play Xbox on that doesn't have an HDMI port. Is it possible to connect my Xbox's audio and video to the monitor without an HDMI port?

    Thanks.

There's quite a bit of dirt and what looks to be like corrosion in there. Perhaps that's the issue. Your only option here, if you want to use the HDMI cable, would be to send it in for repair or purchase a new one.

Try blowing it down with compreseed air and qtips. If that doesnt work you should just use an audio apter and the splitter cable for audio. Ive heard of CRC qd electronic contact cleaner that cleans th contacts of electrical stuff

I would definitely not recommend using compressed air as that may blow the dirt further in to the console through the openings and cause more problems with the console.

    Speaker Solution NEEDED!

Looks like it has an audio out. If you plug the Xbox One up to it via HDMI (unlike DVI, HDMI carries audio signals as well as video signals) you can use the audio out to plug it up to an amplifier or a set of PC speakers, etc.

If it doesn't have an audio out port then sell it and buy a monitor with an audio out port.

    Xbox Audio->Reciever

It doesn't matter. Both the HDMI audio output and the optical audio output provide the same audio signal. While one is optical and one is electrical, both are digital and contain the same information.

The only thing you should worry about is if the receiver introduces any latency in the HDMI video path.

    XBox One w/ Receiver Setup

    My set up will be:

Cable Box HDMI out to Xbox One HDMI IN, Xbox One HDMI out to Receiver HDMI In, Receiver HDMI out to TV HDMI in, Receiver Audio out to Speakers

So the Cable audio/video goes to the Xbox One, Xbox One send that and/or it's audio/video to the Receiver, Receiver sends video to TV and audio to Speakers

It seems like that's what you're describing, so I'm not sure why you think audio is being left out anywhere.

    Can you use Bluetooth?

Hey ToxicPhoenix010! The Xbox doesn't have the ability to connect via Bluetooth. You will need to use an HDMI or optical audio cable to connect the console. Thanks!

    Xbox One Sound Lag

    Hi Grimsupanoob,

Can you please clarify which cable are you talking about?

I have this same audio delay issue with my setup:

Xbox One X -> Original Xbox HDMI Cable (I presume this one is HDMI 2.0) -> LG OLED B9 TV -> Random HDMI Cable connected to ARC -> Denon X2200W

I read that the cable for ARC doesn't have to be HDMI 2.0 as it just transmits audio (any HDMI 1.4 should be enough for that).

    Thanks,

    Marcin
