xbox has no microphone attached but says there is one and is heard by other people

I only have an xbox 360, not a kinect or any other attachment. I have an hdmi to vga adapter with headphone jack to hook my xbox up to a computer monitor, but neither the headphones or the monitor have a mic attachment. However, in multiplayer online apparently
something is taking the place of a mic and making some really annoying noises that I cannot hear but other people on headsets can. (got some pretty unpleasant messages about it)

I've looked through all the settings I can find, but is there any way to disable audio input on your xbox 360 entirely? I'm never going to use a microphone and I want to be able to play multiplayer matches without whatever noise it's making at other people.

Error Message in Party Chat

I have been recently encountering a problem with my Xbox live party chat. Some times it works just fine but other times i receive this "It seems we can't find a microphone for these people" message. It then says go to device settings, where i updated my
controller and it's showing that there is no other error. Every time this message shows up, my party can't here me through my microphone and kinect. I can hear them perfectly fine but they can't here me.

Is there any way to fix this issue without having to return my Xbox One. Please let me know and thank you for your time.

headset stopped workiing

hi headset stopped working bought new one not working tried everything on all websites headset works on phone perfect.powered down restarted, unplugged still says no microphone attached

More than likely the adapter is causing feedback through the system. So far as I know there is no way to disable the audio input on the console. I would suggest either replacing the adapter or finding a different way to connect the console to the monitor.

will I be able to buy a xbox one in the future without a Kinect hope so why have to buy something you don't use plus I heard a general saying how easy it is to spy on people with a xbox so why have camera and microphone in your house 24 7 that could be
taping you with out you knowing it

Yea, depending on how he has the stream set up (whether its PC or on Xbox) all people in an Xbox Party or within earshot of his Microphone (that's a given) will be heard on the stream. One of my friends prefers to use Twitch to stream over Mixer and he doesn't
often tell us he's streaming because it doesn't show up on Xbox Live like Mixer does.

But yes, you should be heard by default depending on how he has the stream set up.

The headsets are compatible with the Xbox. I have used Xbox microphones as well as third party microphones that all work on other devices. I should also note that I can hear everything on the headset, but i cannot be heard on my headsets.

Okay, I just discovered an issue:

The Xbox Stereo Headset's microphone does NOT work when connected via a USB hub, even if it's the only device attached to the USB hub. The microphone is detected, but it does not detect any sound in the volume meter.

As soon as I plug my Xbox One controller directly into the Surface Pro 2, the microphone immediately detects sound.
