Xbox hacker said address and was going to kill me

They more than likely traced your IP. Without using a VPN this can be done to anyone and most everyone using the internet is exposed. Tracing an IP is very simple and most everyone is exposed to hackers and cyber criminals. Not saying it's impossible to
happen but they are likely trying to scare or mess with you. The chance of someone actually coming to harm you is miniscule. If they traced your IP they are more than likely hiding their own IP and use a VPN. There is not much the regular police can do. They
could be anywhere in the world and their IP could say they are somewhere completely different as any internet user with a VPN. I would suggest reporting their profile or the messages in which they said this.

There isn't really anything Xbox itself can do, If the "hacker" I use that term loosely because anyone with grabify and 5 minutes to spare can steal an IP. But as I was saying if said hacker, messeged you through Xbox live, you can report it and he will
be punished accordingly. However if he didn't sent you a text containing something increminating Xbox cant do much of anything, since it had to do with your IP address being obtained by something external, not by the Xbox live service itself. All I am gonna
say is, literally anyone can steal an IP, don't give into this guys nonsense. I ask you this who in their right mind is gonna drive x amount of miles to your house, and commit a homicide risking 12 years to life over a video game.

An ISP can stop you from disconnecting someone by changing there IP address. Also attacks of this nature can be traced back to the originator (and a VPN won't protect them, because the VPN provider knows the Internet IP of a person hiding behind them to
launch attack.

Denial of service attacks are not only against the rules of Xbox Live, they are illegal by law. People who do these attacks can be fined or sent to prison.

Sending a message to anyone threatening to harm them is a violation of the Xbox Live rules, all you need to do is report them. More than likely they've said the same to other users, they'll face a permanent account ban and probably a console ban too.

As Dereliictus has already correctly pointed out, getting hold of someone's IP address is easy and it's not certainly not 'hacking'. And, determining the exact geo-location based purely on an IP address is pretty much impossible. You can test this yourself
by googling your own IP address. knowing an IP is not enough to locate its exact address.

So, unless you've told this person who you are and where you live, there is no chance they are ever going to find you and carry out their threat.

This was over a xbox chat party and i a vpn and how am i to sit there and take this as a joke what if one day someone actually comes to someones house like ITS NOT A JOKE. This is a threat and xbox does nothing about it ever i can name off over 20 diffirent
people that have pulled my ip or even others and they dont care about what happens because no one does anything about it.
