Xbox Gold Subscription Won't Allow Me to Download the "Free with Gold" 360 titles

Why is is that month after month, I have an Xbox Gold Subscription that I have paid for, that Microsoft has cashed my money from, and yet I am still unable to download the "Free with Gold" monthly 360 titles? I am paying for a service, promised a product,
and then am not allowed to have it, what kind of asinine b.s. is that?

I can log in online, through the app, and on the console itself- and every one of these sources recognizes that my account is aligned with owning a prepaid subscription, yet I need to set up "payment options" for something already promised to me.

Why do you list the 360 Games with Gold titles if you are going to restrict your consumers from owning them DESPITE PURCHASING THE PRIVILEGE TO HAVE THEM FOR FREE?

only a standard Xbox Live Gold subscription will allow you to get a Game with Gold for free. a 14 day trial is like the name mentions a Trial subscription and won't allow you to get a 360 Games with Gold game for free, you will require a standard Xbox Live
Gold subscription for that.

350 games with gold games are set up differently than One games. With 360 games you can keep playing the games without gold. So a full gold subscription is required in order to download them for free. One games require a gold subscription in order to keep
playing them, so they will allow you to download them with a trial, but you won't be able to keep using them unless you get a gold subscription. Trials do not change your account status to gold and will not give you full benefits you would get with a full
paid subscription.

 

you need to add a card. It will take no money off of the card if it's the 2 360 games with gold. I just use a old visa gift card.

 

It's completely irrelevant that the account won't be charged, I don't own a credit card in order to access a service that is promised to me when I have already purchased it. I'm a college student, I don't drive, I write checks and pay in cash. I walk to
Gamestop at least once a year and buy games on discs and prepaid cards. The fact that I can still do that, means that a credit card should absolutely not be necessary. I don't see an option in the "Change Payment Methods" to list a(n) Xbox card even.

The fact of the matter is that when I purchase those prepaid cards from any venue, it is a promise that from that moment, the service I have now paid for WILL be rendered. It's unacceptable that one should have to jump through additional unnecessary hoops
beyond the acquisition of said subscription.

When you go to a concert, you show whomever your ticket purchase, they don't then tell you to sign your name and list your credit card. No, you're let inside and you get to enjoy that which your money was laid down for.

I'm afraid that for some reason, I assume verification, it is required to have a valid payment option on your account in order to acquire the Games with Gold as mentioned on the FAQ here:

A Paypal payment option might be sufficient, but I'm not 100% sure

This is a leftover from when Xbox moved from the Microsoft Points payment to "real world" currency.

If you have a real Xbox 360 console, you do get the games easily.

However on the Xbox Website, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Apps (which use the Xbox website as store backend) you need to have a valid payment option like a credit card or PayPal to be able to "purchase" the free games for 0.00 of your local currency.
I know this sounds stupid, but it's the way it is.

Without a valid payment option on your account, you can still get the free games on a real Xbox 360 console without problems.
