Xbox Gold not working with online games?

I just found a random 2 day Gold subscription and thought I would just use it as it came with my Xbox one package deal and I put it on but I can't go on any online games does the trial code expire or something?

It's not a gold membership it only provides temporarily multiplayer access and usually for non ranked games and the games they came wifh

Gold trials will not change your account status to gold. They only give you access to some aspects of online multiplayer. They will not work with all games or game modes. So it may not work with that particular game.

Gold is required to play online. Since Fortnite is an online only game, it requires Gold. They are working on changing that for Fortnite and other games, but currently it still requires Gold.

The game overwatch is a online only game, as such needs xbox gold to be able to be played online. If you xbox gold is expired then overwatch will not work online. As for gears of war 4, double check you own it and not from gamepass if you did or didnt have
that as well. If you own the game, and it still does not work then i would suggest rebooting everything and trying again. If it still does not work/load then id suggest contacting xbox support on this issue. Gears of war 4 does have a online component to the
game, without gold you will not be able to play online matches like team deathmatch, capture the flag etc....

If you are short on funds and in a region that supports microsoft rewards, then i suggest looking into that, after 3 months of it you will be able to redeem a whole years worth of xbox gold. Happy gaming.
