Xbox gold membership not allowing online play but allowing gold discounts (Need help now!)

Hello i put in a 12 month gold membership pre-paid card on July 2nd and now i can no longer play online but i'm receiving discounts for being a gold member. any idea what's going on?

To access GTAV online you would need to be a gold member. What other games are allowing you access to MP using a silver membership?

cant edit the post but i resolved the issue. decided to use bing rewards to get a one month gold membership and it fixed my issue

Now i think xbox sucks because of gold membership it's like no use of buying the console if you can't play online gold membership sucks i think if they allow us to play online for free thats cool but u need gold membership and it sucks

2 day and 14 day trials are not full Gold memberships, and will only allow for online play with a few games. You need a full Gold membership for full online gaming.

Trials only give you limited access to some xbox live gold features.

Not all games allow you to play online with a gold trial,you would need a full gold membership.

A gold membership is required for online multiplayer. A free/silver membership will not allow you to play online.
