I will simplify as much as possible:

Bf and I each have an xbox one. We "share" games by making eachother's home console reversed. This works well and is allowed by Microsoft (to the best of my knowledge). We are BOTH getting xbox one x's this weekend and passing the xbox one's to the kids.
We both pay for xbox gold live. So 4 consoles, 2 gold memberships (as the other two are just children).

How the heck do we make that work?!

    :)

If that is the case who gets to use their gold account on other machines? They've clearly said that. Just like now, your live subscription follows you to whatever Xbox console you use. So who on that original console can take their account to another console?

I think so yes but for a single xbox, it takes the single live account and all users can access features behind the paywall as if they had gold on that console.

arthurdentpc has 3 xbox's tho, and the old "family" bundle allowed each user to effectively have their own gold membership, so gold on each user which translated to gold on each console, now its gold to anyone on the single xbox....

So I assume on single xbox families the new system is much better, but on multiple xbox families its not as good. Its not super clear tho how this new gold system will work on xbox one, but it does read like arthur is shafted rather unfairly in this new scenario.

You can only have 1 Home console at a time. So you'd either have to set the kids' consoles as your Home consoles so they can access your content which would mean the two of you would no longer be sharing with each other. Or continue to share the way you
have been and purchase at least 1 more gold subscription for the kids.

    No, I mean that:

"Microsoft's Ben Kilgore said that multiple accounts will be able to ride on the same Xbox Live Gold membership, but that individual users will have access to their own friends lists and other personalizations."

Multiple accounts on the same console with my Xbox Live Gold membership.

    Hi there,

there is not an option to share subscriptions in one household.

But since this is for 2 consoles, there is an alternate option.

You can use the Home console feature. If for example one of your kids accounts has a Gold subscription that account is able to use the Gold features on any console that is connected to Xbox Live.

That account is also able to assign one Xbox One console as their Home console, which will result that their Gold subscription is shared on that Home console, allowing other profiles on that Home console to use Gold features too.

See this link for more information in regards to Home console features:
    https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/xbox-live/xbox-live-gold-sharing-features

This will also be the case for other subscriptions and for digital purchased games.

In your situation, if child A has a Gold console, and assigns console 1 as their Home console, child B (and any other profile) will be able to use Gold features on console 1.

Child A will be able to use Gold features on any other console as long as the console is connected to Xbox Live (Internet)

Keep in mind that if their is a Service issue or internet issue, digital purchased games can only be played on the account's Home console.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask

For the profile that has the Gold subscription, it will work on both consoles, at the same time.
