xbox gold family membership problem

I thought I had renewed my Gold Family account in June but have just discovered that only myself and my wife are Gold members and we never use the Xbox however my two sons who do use it, are not members. How can I transfer my membership to my sons?

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Live Gold Family Pack is no longer available for purchase, after several people noted its disappearance earlier this month.

“The Family Gold offer is no longer available for purchase,” a company representative told Joystiq. “The Family Center experience with settings management, allowance granting, child activity reports and family subscriptions management are still available for current Family Gold members at this time.”

Asked about the reasoning behind this decision, he replied: “We continually evaluate our business focus and work to offer services that make the most sense for our customers and Xbox.”

The Family pack was originally introduced in November 2010 and was a $99 bundle that included four year long Gold memberships for four family members, along with functions to monitor and control each family member’s content purchasing and viewing settings via the Family center.

The Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack gives you four 12-month Gold memberships for less than the price of two. You can easily convert an existing Xbox LIVE Gold membership, or you can sign up for a new Xbox LIVE account and Gold Family Pack membership.

Note You will get a discount on your Gold Family Pack membership if you have time remaining on your existing Gold membership.

With the Gold Family Pack, you can:

Give family members an allowance of Microsoft Points to redeem for films, games and more.
Manage your family memberships, activities and Family Settings from the Family Centre.

Microsoft just ended the Family Plan for good

Microsoft sent this announcement via e-mail to all Family Plan members. This is terrible for people who have more than one console. Also note (in bold) that this answers the questions about the Gold Live sharing on multiple consoles. So if you plan to throw out your 360's and game library and have you family glued to one Xbox One then you are good. Once you go that friends house your family cannot play in Live on either console unless you have an additional sub. Terrible.

Xbox Live Gold Family Pack Conversion to Individual Memberships
As a valued Xbox Live Gold member, we'd like to thank you and your family for being part of the Gold community.

We continually evaluate our offerings and are always working to provide services that best meet the needs of our customers.
Starting August 27, 2013, we will be converting each activated account on your Gold Family Pack to an individual Xbox Live Gold membership to prepare for new upcoming features on Xbox Live Gold. Rest assured, each individual membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Through the new Home Gold feature on Xbox One, a single Xbox Live Gold membership will allow anyone in your home to enjoy many Gold features like multiplayer, access to Gold entertainment apps, and more on your Xbox One.*
As a bonus, we will give each converted individual Xbox Live Gold membership from your Gold Family Pack an extra 3 months of Gold (in addition to the time remaining on your membership term).**

Sorry but the Family Gold plan has been retired and there is no way to transfer a membership to another account.

However, if you had plans to purchase an Xbox One console you can share the membership with your family on the Xbox One console without restrictions. The Xbox One sharing plan does not transfer to the 360.

Can you tell me how my sons can be on Gold. I feel really duped by Microsoft as had I'd known that my sons wouldn't have been on Gold I'd never had renewed membership for myself. Very disappointed in Microsoft to be honest.

So do you need to buy membership for each member of the family that want to use Gold? How come my wife has Gold membership?

When did you purchase the membership for yourself? If it was only recently (within the last week) perhaps phone support may be able to switch it for you. But only if it was in a short period of time.

If it was longer then, yes, you would need to purchase a Gold membership for each member of the family.

As for the reason your wife has a membership, perhaps one of you had purchased one and forgotten about it. You can check what membership she has and what was added to her account at commerce.microsoft.com.

I would like to let you know though that if you do not play online games but only use apps you no longer need to have a Gold membership as access to those features is now free, barring subscription fees though.

so this is the closest topic i had to my problem so far. i had a notification pop up on my 360 saying my gold memebership would expire on the 14th of this month (october). it is the 11th as of now, and it just kicked me out of xbox live to tell me my membership
had expired, and i was planning to pick a code card up on my way to an appointment on the 13th. can i have some explanation as to what happened?

Your gamertag is still showing as Gold so perhaps it was a glitch. You can check the date of the end of your subscription at this link
account.xbox.com/.../Manage

If it shows that your membership ends on the 14th and you still cannot access multiplayer then you should contact phone support for more assistance.

If you mean a Family Gold Membership, ist not possible anymore. Family Gold is expired already. But, you could share your Membership with your Family on a Xbox One.

i think this applies to everyone who is already in the family membership not someone who transfers regions

if you had created the family membership and not added someone this may apply you will have to contact support as this is a new tool
