Xbox Gold and Steam...

Hi,

I bought the boy a Series X for xmas/birthday. My Xbox account on there has Gold with Game Pass Ultimate and it is set as my Home Xbox. I don't actually use the Xbox or the account; it's for him to use under the sharing and Family umbrella.

He owns Master Chief Collection on his account.

I own Master Chief Collection on Steam.

If I sign in to play MCC via steam. He gets kicked off the MCC game on the Xbox.

If I'm signed into MCC via Steam he can't play MCC online sharing my Gold Live without logging in as me and kicking me off MCC on Steam.

If I create another Live account and sign in to Steam MCC with that then we can both play simultaneously.

This cannot be right?

make sure the console is set as your home, create your lad a seperate account for himself, you can set yourself up as the parent and then he can log into his own account and use gold and any games you buy on the console and then you can play using you account on the pc

It's already set as Home. He has a separate account. It just doesn't seem to work. He can't play when I'm logged in via the PC/Steam

No, you don't need Xbox Live Gold to play PC games that you downloaded from Steam. Xbox Live Gold is a subscription service that offers access to online multiplayer games on Xbox consoles. It is not necessary to play games on PC.

To play games on PC that you have downloaded from Steam, you only need a broadband Internet connection.

However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Some PC games may require an Xbox Live Gold subscription to access specific online features, such as cross-play or voice chat. In these cases, it will be indicated in the game description on Steam.

In general, if you're going to play games on PC that you downloaded from Steam, you don't need Xbox Live Gold.

To get games on Steam or Games for Windows Live you do not need a Gold Membership. It only applies to your Xbox Live account.
