Xbox gold 360 and minecraft

My son recently bought Xbox gold for our Xbox 360 (not one) so that he could play multiplayer games however whenever he tries to join anything he gets the error message 'connection to the server was lost. Exiting to the main menu'. The internet connection
itself works fine and we are able to download games, just can't join a minecraft server.

how big is the saved data for minecraft xbox 360 if it's 1,5GB+ then it wont save if it's lower then 1.5gb it should just save there but you require a active gold subscription to store saved data in the cloud on 360

Xbox Live Gold will work with all Xbox consoles from the Xbox 360 up to the new Series X/S. So you have no problem there with Gold. Minecraft for the Xbox 360 however will only work online with other Xbox 360 consoles. That's because the Xbox 360 version
is no longer updated and is not cross play with other devices such as mobile and tablet. If you want to play with your mates online, you will either have to use a different Xbox console, such as the Xbox One or a mobile, tablet, Windows, Nintendo Switch or
PS4.

Actually, Xbox is going to keep the Games With Gold promo going even beyond 12/31/2013. But, if we're making suggestions for games, I'd kinda be interested in seeing Earth Defense Force for an arcade title, and maybe Mass Effect as a Games On Demand title.
Of course, if they wanted to toss some Minecraft at us, I would be fine with that, too.

Wow really? I am having the same problem I feel like I just wasted my money on gold if I can't even play online for Minecraft, which is initially why I got it.
