Xbox gift catds

Hello, I have this issue plenty times with my son. Make sure you have the card handy. If you can get into contact with a live support person they will definitely be able to help you. I know they will ask you what card numbers are visible and enter it in their system. They will give you the correct numbers from the card that's scratched up.

Call support and don't throw away the card.

While not Microsoft, I was careless with a $50 Nintendo card and almost didn't call thinking it was hopeless after I had damaged the code. There's other numbers though on these cards that are unique to each card and I was fixed up in less than two minutes.

Assuming that Microsoft's are similarly setup (I doubt Nintendo's doing anything unique in this regard), they'll be able to still look up your gift card, see that it's been sold and unredeemed, and get the gift card amount deposited to your account.

Always make sure to use a dime or quarter to scratch these off, as I learned.

You never could use prepaid currency cards or ms piints cards for subscriptions

If you want prepaid subscription you must buy the subscription catds

Promotions must be purchased with a debit or creditcard

Keep trying for a few more days. If that foesnt work I would recommend contacting microsoft support or see if you could take the catd back to where you purchased it, to refund it or swap the card out for a new one.
