    You cannot access Xbox services from Iraq, it is not a supported country. You cannot use gift cards or VPN to bypass this. Doing so can lead to account and console bans.

    If you bought a gift card from another region, go to your setting and change the region of the xbox to the region you bought the gift card from, Redeem it, and then you can bo back to your previous region.

    The best way would be to purchase a Xbox Gift card for their region from an online store such as amazon. You say you both live in Europe, so purchase the gift card from the amazon site that is in the same region as your friend. That way you are guaranteed a gift card for the region your friend is in.
