Xbox Gift Card Balance Not in List of Payment Methods for Xbox 360 Store, but Works Fine with ...

Hello,

I am unable to purchase games on the Xbox 360 store using my gift card balance. The gift card balance does not show as an available payment method during checkout. My credit card is the only available method.

However, the gift card balance is available and works fine when purchasing games from the Xbox One store.

Does anyone know why this might be? I couldn't find anything in the forums about this.

For paid items you can add currency to your account using an Xbox gift card and purchase them that way. But it looks like the avatar store works the same as the 360 store, you would need a valid payment method on file, even for free content. The One and
xbox.com do not recognize your Microsoft account balance as a valid payment option for 360 content. So a payment method is required to be on file.

 

How to use Xbox Live Reward points?

Once credits are deposited, they are added as currency to your Microsoft account balance (like when you add an Xbox gift card). You would use your account balance as your payment method when making purchases on the Xbox Store.

This is due to the site itself,
http://marketplace.xbox.com (the web store for Xbox 360) is not compatible with the currency whereas
Xbox One Games | Xbox (Xbox One web store) is.

If you want to use the currency to buy any Xbox 360 content, you will need to do this via an actual Xbox 360 console.

I dont have a credit card, and have a xbox one with agold account. Is there a way to download the 360 games without a credit card or a 360 console?

because thegames are shown on the xbox one store but have a message saying they can only be bought on a bundle

You can't buy 360 games from the xbox one as they are separate marketplaces

Only way to download 360 games is an 360 console.or the 360 Web marketplace
