    Xbox Gaming Services

    I recently just bought a standard game pass for Windows Xbox App and when I first started it it says I needed to install Gaming Services. I have let it sit and install for almost an hour and there has been no progress.

    When I go to the settings of the app and see if it has the correct installation location, I've seen this comment from another answer post, it says it can't find its installation location even after a reinstall. I've changed my computer's default hard drive twice and nothing changes.

    I've tried another solution where I go through the Powershell and type in the commands but in the Windows store it again doesn't install and sits there. No progress, just the loading circle.

    Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this Gaming Services thing just broken, I've used this Xbox app before this service and have had zero issues.

    :)

    XBOX app and gaming services service

    Hi L4c3rd4

    Thanks for that, not sure why I didn't think of this myself but:

    "Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    Then do the same for the Xbox app:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again."

    resolved my issue.

    Many thanks

    XBOX app and gaming services service

    Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

    I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

    Hey MRm455, how are you today? Hope you're well.

    There are a few things we could try:

    So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

    Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

    Click Check for Updates;

    Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

    Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Then try this:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    Then do the same for the Xbox app:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Then, try to uninstall and install the Xbox app. :)

    ______________________________________________________________

    If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command.

    In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

    Then, after you do it, you're going to open the game pass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again

    ______________________________________________________________

    If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

    If you're using Windows 10:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    If you're using Windows 11:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    First, you will download it > Open the ISO Image tool > Open a file inside it called SETUP.exe > Select upgrade > download from the cloud > Keep games and apps.

    That is completely false my computer was freezing up and overheating constantly sometimes on start. To be clear I am a computer security professional with college degrees and decades of experience troubleshooting pc problems and this is a brand new gaming laptop with premium specs running nothing. The only applications running are the logitec keyboard and mouse software, sound drivers and video driver software. literally nothing else on a Rizen 7 chip and RTX graphics card 8 gigs of ram. Tell me it doesn't cause problems again.

    XVD disks is completely normal, if you are using gamepass games and some windows store games they are actually installed as a virtual disk and it causes no harm what so ever. it is completely normal behaviour, the fact it shows as a yellow warning in event viewer is normal too as when it disconnects when you close the game it logs it as a surprise remove, they do need to change that one though.

    The XVD disks do not cause any problems on the machine, they are not the cause of your issues, it must be something else especially if your system is over heating, elden ring does have issues even for me too.

    i have a pretty high spec rig, my kids never have issues either and they are on lower end spec rigs.

    XVD disks do not cause and cannot cause overheating as they don't use any resources.

    what specs do you have in your machine.

    Furthermore when I finally found a way for it to stop making 50-60 xvd drives a day on my pc by disabling the virtual scsi interface my problems magically vanished. HMMM? I wonder why..... I would like to hear again how little problems these drives being created and disconnected caused.
