Xbox Gaming Services Error Causing Xbox App to Not Function

As of this morning when I tried to install Minecraft Legends, my Xbox app began reporting that I needed to install the "Gaming Services" app. I believed I already had it installed, but allowed it, assuming it was an update. After doing so, trying to launch a game continued to report that I had an issue with the gaming services app.

I've run through all the troubleshooting steps I can, from simple stuff like trying to open the minecraft launcher directly without the xbox app, to reinstalling windows 11 in place (keeping my settings.) I've performed all the described steps in several forums, like this one (Can't do anything on the Xbox PC App - Microsoft Community) including deleting registry keys, uninstalling and reinstalling the services and apps, etc. I cannot get anything from the xbox app to work correctly.

Notably, a few symptoms I have not seen identified elsewhere:If I go into the Xbox app and navigate to settings, I can click every tab in there except "General" - which leads to a pretty but useless error screen which says, "Looks like you're stranded... There might be a problem with the app. Try it again in a while."

Does anybody have any additional ideas of what might resolve this issue?

((Small update... I clicked the Minecraft Launcher shortcut on my desktop, and after like five minutes, the launcher DID load. When I tried to select Minecraft Legends, it said it required an update. I told it to go ahead, and now it's showing me an update status bar, but there's no movement on it. I opened the Xbox app again, and now I CAN navigate to the general settings, and even see Minecraft Legends in the download queue, but it remained at 0 B/S. Additionally, I still have the orange error on the side that says "Gaming Services Required. Click to download." Clicking this puts a green bar at the bottom of the screen that says "Installing Gaming Services. This may take a few minutes." but nothing happens.))

Hi, Roger.

Xbox's dependencies for PC are basically programs, like the Xbox app, the Gaming Services app, and services that are already running on your PC.
All this allows the Xbox app (and basically Microsoft Store games) to function properly.

I am having that exact same error with Wolfenstein 2: The New collosus. Installing fron the Xbox app from a Gamepass Ultimate membership. The GamingUI app is the one that causes this issue . Had tried to install the game, the Xbox app and by the command promp the Gaming services with no success and there is no way to report it.

There are some steps to completely disable this service on the group policies (on Windows Pro or Enterprise) and services. But as far as I know, disabling it by these locations can cause the Xbox app to not function properly or show an error (error 0x800700e9).

If you want to try:

Press Windows + R > Type services.msc > Press enter. Set "Delivery Optimization" to Disabled.

Press Windows + R > Type gpedit.msc > Press enter.

Go to Computer configuration > Administrative templates > Windows components > Delivery optimization. Set it as disabled.

Restart your computer and see how it goes.
