Xbox Gaming Bar not recording full resolution on Ultrawide Monitor on Windows 10

I've had my ultrawide monitor for a while and It never really came across me but I've now wondered why the Xbox Gaming Bar doesn't record on full resolution with the native resolution for the ultrawide monitor.

My monitor's resolution is at 2560x1080p but Xbox Gaming Bar ever only records at 1920x812p which is very confusing.

I also put the recording quality to high as well but that didn't change anything. Is it even possible to record with Xbox Gaming Bar at the monitor's full native resolution at all?

I did try it and it still didn't do anything :/ It only automatically locks back to 1920x1080p which squishes the footage and it doesn't "save" the 2560x1080p.

Sadly I didn't find any place where I could force the record into the resolution you want. In fact, Shadow Play is pretty cool. Maybe with Windows 11, this will be fixed for you.

that is strange, i had the issue when the game was outputting the wrong res so gamebar just recorded the actual game resolution. if you using nvidia i would just use shadowplay instead, works better and slightly less overhead.

I installed Windows 11 today on my PC and did some tests with my ultrawide monitor and the capture was recorded in ultrawide resolution. I believe that in Windows 10 it is also possible. Have you checked the app for updates in the Microsoft Store and checked for Windows updates in Windows update? I recommend installing optional/additional updates.

Open the Microsoft Store app on your Windows, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner>downloads and updates and click on ''get updates'' to update everything. Also, install Xbox Companion, maybe it can help too.
