xbox games ready to install upon setup disappeared? (x-posted)

Hi,

I x-posted this on another board because I am honestly confused.

I set up my refurbished machine yesterday morning. Forza and Assassin's Creed showed up on the screen as ready to install. We tried to go ahead and began the install. It was cancelled accidentally, but when we went to do it again, neither game even shows
up. I have been through several reps and no one can tell me what to do or why. The marketplace does not show the games as ready to download, either.

Is this a refurb glitch? Why would the games have been accessible but then not? What can I do? Support has been less than helpful, mostly due to the outage yesterday, and they keep redirecting me to sales and back to box support.

Try going to Games and Apps from the Home page and select Games. Now scroll all the way to the right and you should find the tiles for the 2 games. Highlight one and press the menu button on the controller (small button to the right of the X on the controller).
This will open a menu with choices, one of which should be install.

 

So these are not games you yourself purchased? They were shown as Ready to Install when you first set it up?

Okay, in that case it sounds like this console was still marked as someone else's Home console, meaning that their purchased games could be downloaded onto the machine - ie, they were ready to install. However, either you resetting the console or them changing
their Home console revoked this and the console is no longer the Home of the other person's profile, meaning the games are no longer ready to install. Which is how it should be; in this scenario, they should never have been shown as ready to install.
