Xbox games on multiple consoles

What's up guys?

I was wondering, I have a brother and we love to play co-op/splitscreen games, allright until here. But then came a thought to me, If I buy another console, being my brother a gold member, could we play the same game on the same time on different consoles?

An example:

I have bought GTA V, I have it saved on my HDD, so If I downloaded again the game in a different HDD, and inserted it on the other console, could I and my brotther play

GTA V together online or through LAN connection? Or I would have to buy another copy of the game?

Saved Games on multiple consoles

I searched and could not find another topic on this. I have a xbox one with a 4tb external hard drive. I have a profile and my son has a profile. I am thinking about getting a Xbox One S for myself and then giving my son the xbox one. How will I get my saved
games and things off the current xbox one and move them to the S?

Will my external hard drive just plug into the S without having to do anything?

Will my son still be able to access all his stuff on the xbox one? I know any games installed on the external drive will have to be reinstalled on the internal drive on the xbox one. From what I understand the game saves are stored online and not locally?

Yes that is true. It's how the licenses are set up to work with games.

As long as you're not exploiting the license transfer tool to share games, you should not get banned. What you're doing will be fine.

It would work in theory so long as you own both consoles. What you would need to do though is to keep the newer console for yourself and let your brother use the older console (that way you don't have to do a license transfer). Then for games you purchase
and download in the future, be sure to download them to the older console first.

The reason for this is because on any console that does not have the licenses attached your brother would need to have your gamertag signed in if he wanted to play the games that you purchased.

One more thing, I would not infringe any rule this way, right? So could I play without fear of being banned?

I do the same thing. I have had multiple consoles in the past. One for my family (which gets the first downloads) and then one for me. That way there is no arguing.

Hi,

You can only buy the game once if you log into the console with the account that makes the purchase.

You can also use the "Home xbox" functionality which allows you to play purchased content even if the account which made the purchase is not connected.

The only limitation is that an account can only have one Home xbox and the number of changes is limited in time.

xbox pricipale also allows you to share subscriptions: xbox live, xbox game pass.

For exemple :

You buy with your account, Modern Warefare.

You configure your son's console in home xbox with your profil.

You can play with your account on your xbox (logged with your profil) and your son can play MW on his own account without the need for you to be logged on his console.

Theoretically how it is supposed to work.

1. No matter which console a profile is signed into it should always be able to play its digitally purchased games and use any of its subscriptions. As long as any console that is not the profiles home console is hooked up to the internet.

2. Each profile can set ONE console at a time as its HOME console and any other profile on the HOME console can play any of that profiles digital games and use its subscriptions. Keep in mind that you can switch which console you have set as your HOME console
only FIVE times a year.

so with that in mind there is a glitch somewhere in your systems that are allowing them to play your digital games without their consoles being set as their home console.
