    Xbox/Games compatibility

    Hello,

I hope i am not posting on wrong part, if yes, i am very sorry.

I'm french so please excuse my very bad english.

I already had a xbox 360 but i'm now living in Japan so i cannot bring it with me. This is why i want to buy a new one, in Japan, but my worry is : i want to play my games in french, with games that I already bought in France, so i'm asking if it's possible
? And some of my xbox games can be played with xbox 360, is it the same for a "japanese" xbox 360 ?

Thank you very much for reading - and maybe answering.

    Have a good day,

    RJ

    :)

    Xbox/Games compatibility

    Hi Revanjade,

Your European Xbox 360 games will only work with a European Xbox 360 console due to region locks. For a Japanese console you will need to buy Japanese copies of the game. Original Xbox games should still be playable in Japan, but subject to the same regional
    restrictions.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Maxen13,

Thank you very much for this answer.

So, it seems if i want to play games in my language, i have to use european xbox. Maybe it's not the place for this question, but if i use an european xbox 360 in Japan, i'm worried because plugs are different between french and japanese one. Energy voltage
is different, so can the xbox be broken if i switch it with an adaptor ?

Maybe i should ask someone from a store.

(Sure, if i took my european xbox, i'll play my games from the same region).

    Thank you !

It's not quite that easy. Maxen is correct, that some games are region coded, and will only run on an European PAL console. Some games (especially games from Microsoft Game Studios like Halo, Forza, Gears of War etc.) are NOT region coded and will run on
    any console.

But there is no official database on what games are region coded or not (Play Asia has an unofficial Region Compatibility list).

The Language itself is dependent on the console and your account region settings. In theory, you could set up a Japanese console to display French text, and usually, 360 games have only a limited number of languages on disc, so the game might still be in
    French.

However, there is still the region lock problem.

Most of your European electronic devices will not work in Japan, since the wall outlets are in a different shape, and Japan "only" uses 100 Volt instead of our European 230 Volt.

You can either try and order a replacement Xbox 360 power brick for Japan, or
purchase a voltage converter for Japan
    .

Make sure you get a voltage converter that can sustain AT LEAST 200 Watts of power for the Xbox.

If you intend to power other devices in Japan (e.g. a hair dryer, waffle iron or other devices that draw much more power, you will of course need a more powerful voltage converter.
