xbox gamertag rest

There won't be another mass reset. As of 2016, if a person does not sign into their Xbox account within 5 years the gamertag will be freed up. As of August, 31, 2019, if a person doesn't sign into their Microsoft account with 2 years, the account will be closed which should also free up the gamertag. Otherwise, per the new gamertag policy, you can use the same gamertag as someone else, but you will be given a suffix to differentiate you between others with the same tag.

I you think something was not right, file a complaint on the gamertags involved and the Xbox Live Policy Enforcement Team will do the rest.

On xbox 360 it displays your name along with you gamertag. It isn't unusual to see you actual name, your gamertag is most likely the same and the rest of your setting can easily be changed.
