    Xbox Gamertag GONE???


    Hi,

    I logged into my profile for the first time in years (maybe like 5 or 6 years?), to see that my Gamertag was completely different, and all my game history etc was totally wiped. This new Gamertag is entirely different to my old one. I still have emails from
    Microsoft referencing my OLD gamertag. The same email I use to log on.

    I had only ever played Xbox 360.

    My previous Gamertag had tonnes of gamerscore and game history. I put a lot of money into it and it seems to just be gone, and replaced with this fresh account??

    I want my account back. I was about to purchase an Xbox to continue on my same Gamertag, I can't do that without my account.

    How do i get my gamertag back on my account, and why in [Mod removed - see guidelines]
    was it removed?

    Hello there,

    Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. It is still possible that your account is attached to a different email. With my account for example, I have 1 email that I sign in with ( I created it when I created the Microsoft account), And then I have
    all emails going to my alternate email (My personal email).

    If you haven't already, try logging into any other old emails you may have had.

    You can also try contacting a live agent for assistance. Give them your gamertag and explain the situation

    Did you possibly change the email at some point that you used to sign in with the account?

    The best option would be to contact xbox support by going to support.xbox.com/contact-us and give them the gamertag and they can see if the it is still active and if they can verify ownership of the account they can give you the email that is associated
    with that gamertag.

    I know a couple years ago they did a purge of old gamertags that had not been in use for a long time but I do not know if they actually closed the accounts or just issued new random gamertags.
