    Hi, I have recently changed my xbox gamertag and didn't realise that someone had already taken it. so it has 4 numbers at the and i was wondering if i could change it to something different thats not being used for free.

    Unfortunately you cannot revert to an old gamertag without purchasing ... once you change your gamertag it becomes available to any and everyone in the xbox community.

    There's no way to see a list of gamertags you have previously had. The only way to revert back to one would be to change your gamertag to that tag. There's no way to delete an Xbox account from the server.

    If someone takes your gamertag before you change it back or you try to change it before the server notices it's freed up, then you would get a suffix.
