    Xbox gamertag availability


    Hi I was looking for a gamer tag that isn't registered yet and support told me to come here. Below is a reference to my chat with support, and hopefully I should be able to get the tag as I'm ready to pay for it right now Xbox gamertag availability :) Also, the technical support
    checked the availability of the gamertag, they got a result however there's No Microsoft Account is associated with the gamertag

    Hey, so i was wondering, regarding gamertags (original gamertags in general), will those gamertags such as: Exile, Exiled, Enigma, etc.. most of those that have gold on them, and the original xbox gamer picture, with no xbox 360 play time, will they ever
    be wiped like last time in January/February 2011? The accounts are possibly not being used at all, and if you can provide ANY insight as to if microsoft will ever be doing another wipe of most of the accounts associated with original gamertags, it would be
    greatly appreciated.

    Gamertag Availability?

    That bottom part make no sense. If I send a friends request to a gamertag and it doesn't exist on Xbox Live then certainly it wont exist on GFWL either.

    Both Xbox Live and GFWL share the same systems for things such as friends requests. Even Xbox.com sees them as the exact same thing.

    Forum support cannot assist you in this matter. If when you search for the GT
    HERE     it comes up as taken, then another user has already claimed the GT. That is the only way to check the availability.

    Remember that some Gamertags have different privacy and maybe you can't find them on that website.

    If the xbox live tell's you it's not available, that's mean it's not available.

    Whenever the Xbox Live service says that the Gamertag is unavailable then there is no way to get that gamertag, since it's already in use.

    Yes, that website is a 3rd party website and therefore it's up to the owner to keep scans constant and keep it updated. For instance, if it hasn't been maintained, it might not have scanned in-use gamertags in a year. Therefore, it might still show certain
    onces as "Available" when in fact, they've been taken. I would not go by the information on that website. Just check on your Xbox Companion App or on your actual console, and go by that.
