Xbox Gamepass will not let me install to different drives. Auto switches back to C drive....

May I know what is the Windows version, edition and OS build that is currently running on your device? To check, go to Windows Settings > System > About and see under Windows specifications.

Based on the error code 0x8007002 that you provided, it seems that your PC can't find the item you want to install. This could be caused by various factors, such as corrupted system files, disabled Windows Update service, or incompatible storage settings.



To troubleshoot this problem, please try the following steps:

1. Check the Xbox status page to see if there are any service alerts that might affect your installation. If there are, wait until they are resolved and try again. You can sign in to receive a notification when the service is back online.

2. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter to check and fix any issues with your Windows Update service. To do this, go to Settings > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run the troubleshooter.

3. Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair any corrupted or missing system files. To do this, open Command Prompt as an administrator and enter these commands below:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow

4. Make sure that the drive you want to install the game to has enough free space and is formatted as NTFS. You can check this by going to File Explorer > This PC > Right-click on the drive > Properties > General tab. If the drive is not NTFS, you will need to format it, which will erase all data on it. To do this, go to File Explorer > This PC > Right-click on the drive > Format > File system > NTFS > Start.

5. Change the default installation location for your apps and games. To do this, go to Settings > System > Storage > Change where new content is saved > New apps will save to > Choose the drive you want > Apply.



If the issue persists, you can try reinstalling the Xbox app on your computer. Here's how:

1. Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.

2. Click on "Apps".

3. Scroll down to find the Xbox app and click on it.

4. Click on "Advanced options".

5. Click on "Reset" to reset the app.

6. Once the reset is complete, try installing the Xbox Game Pass game again.

Louis, are the affected games installed on a drive different from the system C: drive?

If that's correct, can you try re-installing one of the affected games on the C: drive?

I added a different hard drive a few months back. but it was installed on my c drive, working fine. I was running out of space on my C drive so I uninstalled the game so I could install it on a different drive, as I did not have the option to just move it. Everything worked fine until I uninstalled the game. I tried installing the explorer edition and I was able to install up to 90% then it stopped with an 0x803fb107 error it says I need to install the game in order to install the add-ons. (duh) but it still won't allow me to install the game.

I installed to a different drive, don't have space on C: but it still installed the binaries to c:

It doesn't ask what subfolder to install to on any drive and there's a few new folders on my x: drive.

It's very poor given the alpha had no issues.
