Xbox Gamepass PC Hard drive issue

Hi,

I've recently subscribed to gamepass for pc but I'm having a problem with installing games. If I try and install to anywhere other than my OS drive (C I get an error stating that ''This drive has apps from another device, to use it the other apps must
be deleted''.

I would like to use my dedicated games drive but it currently hosts my Steam and Origin games on it which I'm assuming the app wants to delete in order to use. My C: is only a 240gb SSD so between the OS and the one game I've installed I've pretty much filled
it up meaning I can only have one game at a time installed.

Is there any fix for this?

Hi,

This second drive you've tried to use, has it always been in this PC or was it taken from older computer? If it was from older computer, did you format it for use with your new PC?

If it's from older PC and wasn't formatted, it can probably see an older WindowsApps folder that is marked for a different computer. It is this Apps folder that your Windows wants to be deleted.

The safest sure fire way to get Apps and Games to install again from both PC Game Pass and the Windows Store would be to back up the contents of this drive and format it.

Try plugging the hard drive into a PC, if that recognizes it, then at least you know it's an issue with the Xbox. If the hard drive doesn't work on PC, then it will be an issue with the drive.

If it's an issue with the Xbox, then try changing the USB socket it is connected to, sometimes that can help it fix the issue. Plug the hard drive in when the Xbox is turned on, then see if the Xbox recognizes it.

If it is the hard drive, then try formatting it on the PC first, then see if you can connect it back to the Xbox and format it on there again, that might get it working. If it doesn't, then you might need to download the official hard drive tools for the
PC from the hard drive manufacturers website, to see if you can repair the drive.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

Xbox hard drives are not meant to be seen by a PC. So if you format it on a PC the Xbox will no longer recognize it as an Xbox hard drive.

Your hard drive must be properly formatted to use GamePass games

Is your F drive a physical hard drive inside your computer, formatted with NTFS?
