Xbox Gamebar recorded audio is horrible

    I'm
running into this issue where when I record gameclips from the gamebar,
my mic sounds really awful, like I am sitting very far away from it. (I
have a big mic with a mic stand right in front of me.)

    Meanawhile
when I record something with audacity, it sounds perfectly fine, and I
cant figure out why or how to fix it.

I also posted this on reddit, so don't be confused when I mention reddit in the audio.

    Mic recording from audacity: https://streamable.com/xmcg4u

    I
have also checked, yes they record from the same microphone. I put the
audio quality in the gamebar on high, which changed nothing from the
recommended setting. I just dont know what to do honestly.

    :)

    Hi Nuk3ularCha0s97,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We understand that you are trying to record your game when you keep having issues with the audio of the recorded clip. Let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

We would like to ask for few questions to better isolate your issue.

    1. Knowing that the issue is all about audio, may we ask for what headset or microphone you are using?
    2. Do you have other/spare headset or microphone? Is it giving you same issue?
    3. Is your headset or microphone connected to Xbox Console or PC directly?
    4. Are you on Windows 10 or 11?
    5. When did this issue happen? Was there a recent Windows update or new application installed on your device? Or was this working before?
Please, do not forget to check here for known issues and support articles that might be related to your concern.

    disorted audio xbox gamebar recording

    Hello Irish_Nugget,

Thank you for reaching out to us about your issue!

Can you verify whether or not your microphone sounds like that in any other applications?

I have a few solutions that may work for you:

    1. Verify that your device is up to date

    • Open your Settings
    • Go to Windows Update
    • Select Check for updates
This will assure that you're not missing any updates or drivers that could be causing this issue.

    2. Changing the default audio device in the Xbox Game Bar

    • Open the Xbox Game Bar
    • In the Audio widget, select the Voice tab
Verify that your default communications output and default communications input are both set to the devices that you would like to use.

    3. Change the default input device for computer

    • Open your Settings
    • Go to System
    • Open Sound
In the Input section, verify that you have the correct microphone selected in the "Choose your input device" drop-down menu

    4. Change your microphone settings

    • Open your Settings
    • Go to System
    • Open Sound
    • Select Device properties in the Input section
    • In the Device properties menu, select Additional device properties under Related Settings on the right
    • In the new window, select the Enhancements tab if there is one and select Disable all enhancements
    • If there is no Enhancements tab, open the Advanced tab to see if the setting is there. If it is, uncheck the Enable audio enhancements box if it's checked.
Once enhancements are disabled, try recording again to verify whether or not the microphone is working properly.

You can also try lowering or raising the Default Format of the microphone in the Advanced tab if the other steps did not work. Try multiple settings while also running test recordings to verify if the mic is running properly or not.

Let us know if this helps!

    Thank You,

    XBF Dom

Xbox Gamebar recordings have a horrible 'buzzing' sound.

    Hello Jes6308!

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I can see that you're experiencing issues with the Xbox Game Bar recordings. Based on the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, it seems like you've covered most of the common solutions. However, there are a few more things you can try:

    1. Check your microphone settings: Make sure that your microphone is set as the default recording device and that its volume is not too high. You can adjust these settings by right-clicking on the speaker icon in your taskbar and selecting "Sounds". Then, go to the "Recording" tab and select your microphone.

    2. Disable audio enhancements: Some audio enhancements can cause buzzing or other unwanted sounds. To disable them, go to the "Playback" tab in the "Sounds" window, right-click on your speakers, and select "Properties". Then, go to the "Enhancements" tab and check the box next to "Disable all enhancements".

    3. Try a different recording software: If the issue persists, you may want to try using a different recording software to see if the problem is specific to Xbox Game Bar. OBS Studio is a popular free option that many gamers use.
