Xbox game wont install using disc

I am experiencing difficulties installing Mortal Kombat 1 on my Xbox Series X. When I insert the game disc, the console initiates the download process; however, it consistently halts after approximately ten seconds, displaying the error message 'Installation stopped. Press A to retry or get more details.'

I have already attempted the troubleshooting steps outlined in the Xbox support menu, but the issue persists. Upon visual inspection, the game disc appears to be free of scratches, and I have cleaned it with a microfiber cloth. Despite these efforts, selecting 'Retry' by pressing 'A' results in the same behavior: the download commences briefly before abruptly stopping.

For comparison, my Sonic Frontiers disc installs and plays without any issues, suggesting the problem may be specific to the Mortal Kombat 1 disc or its installation process.

Yes, however the game wont install because the xbox cant read the disc. And I have used multiple of the same game discs. But other game disc that i have work

They wont automatically start installing but they will appear in Ready to Install next to Games (Digital) If it is a Disc you wont see them until you put the Actual disc into the Xbox (Disc)

Kindly try to do these steps and check if it will fix the issue.

Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

Unplug everything from the back of your Xbox.

Wait 3 minutes, and then plug the power cord and HDMI back in.

Then, set the console offline and install the game.

Go to Settings> Network> Go offline

Thank you for replying.

The new games are on discs. So am I right in saying I should be ok to install them on the new xbox, and if I don't insert the disc on the old (home) xbox, they won't show up as ready to install?

GUNNER 26: Are your games on disc or are they digital downloads?

If your games are on disc the xbox will download the patch in standby mode, but wont install the update untill you put the disc in and load the game. This is normal.

If your games are digital it will (should) download AND install the update whilst in standby.
