Xbox Game Streaming does not recognise my controller

Hi, today I decided to try and play Halo 5 after months of inactivity and wanted to do it in comfort, meaning not in the room with the Xbox, so I tried streaming it to my PC with the Console Companion and the controller I was using refused to operate.
In the first attempt I managed to get into the Halo 5 menu with only a little resistance from game streaming, then the controller disconnected and didn't work at all following that. This issue is not with the controller, the PC or the Xbox, as I have tested
all three and the PC and Xbox connect to one another, and the controller is recognised by both (something I tested using several apps/games). I've been trying to figure out the issue for hours to no avail, and I can't get in contact with Microsoft support
for some untold reason so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's a list of points relevant to my issue:

-Attempting to use wired Afterglow XB1 controller to control XB1 from Win10 PC through Xbox Game Streaming

-Wired Controller recognised by PC - tested with Steam + Rocket League/Xbox App/Afterglow App

-Wired Controller recognised by Xbox - tested with Xbox Home + Settings + Halo 5

-Wired Controller NOT recognised by Xbox or PC within game streaming instance(s)

-Worked briefly on first attempt but with resistance from the software before not working at all anymore

-Profile signed in on both devices

-Secure, stable ethernet connection between both devices (via 1 router + 1 switch)

-Controller drivers up to date, and not corrupted

-Xbox PC app updated to latest version

-Two USB cables tested with same outcome, both working 100%

-Afterglow app downloaded and controller was updated/reset to default configuration/reconfigured

-Game streaming allowed with no client restrictions in Xbox's settings

-Restarting game via both devices attempted

-Restarting game streaming attempted

-Restarting Xbox app on PC attempted

-'Soft' power cycle of Xbox via both devices attempted

-'Full' power cycle of Xbox attempted

-Power cycle of PC attempted

-Reconnection of controller to both devices attempted

-Using separate controllers to control Xbox and PC attempted

-Deleting and reinstalling controller drivers attempted

-Still no success after all of this
