Xbox Game Share Stops Working

Hi guys,

struggling with game share.

Basically i have my account on my sons xbox set as my home xbox so he can use my game pass, live and share games.

Do i need to stay signed in, on my sons xbox for it to work?

Came to it today, we have Xbox set to instant sign in my son (power settings on instant on) and the games wouldnt work. I had to sign in again.

is this correct guys? Surely if im signed in to my sons xbox constantly, i cant sign in to my own xbox.

Is it correct that when im signed out, my son cannot download any games from game pass?

As it says join game pass and join live etc on his account. But, up to now, the already downloaded game pass games load up and he can play online.

If your sons Xbox is set as your home console then no you do not need to be signed in all the time. Any account using that Xbox gets all the same access as you do.

You can then play on a different console with all the same access and you can set that to auto sign you in as well.

If you had to sign in again something else was going on.

Hello I'm Daniel,

This sounds a bit weird the games should be able to be played I'm not sure what's the cause of it but power off and power on the xbox and try it out if it doesn't work then something most definitely went wrong.

Again, double check, by signing into your account on his console (sign his account out even to be safe) and make sure the console is your account's home console. Just adding your account to the console will not do it.

Press the Xbox button
to open the guide.
Select System > Settings > General >
Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.
Do either of the following:
- Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.
- Select Remove this as my home Xbox to remove the designation.

If is says Make this my home console, then it was not set as such and needs to be set.

What you are describing is what happens when someone is not on another person's home console.

Hi there,

If your son's console is set as you're account's home console you do not need to be signed into it for the games and Live to be shared.

Double check when you are signed in on his console that your account has it marked as your home console. Steps can be found at https://support.xbox.com/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox.

Thats what i thought. My sons xbox is definetly set as my home xbox.

we powered on and it signed my son in, but couldnt play as games until i re-signed in.
