XBOX game pass ultimate games wont install on my external hard drive anymore

Hi! I'm having a problem on installing games on a Windows 10 PC from the XBOX game pass ultimate library. I'm trying to install on my external hard drive. I have set this to be my desired place to install in the settings, but as I try to install any game I get a pop up that asks me to choose another directory for installing. My external hard drive is never shown as an option. If I for some reason get past this phase and the app doesn't ask me to change the directory I will get an error message: 0x80073d13, the drive needs to be NTFS and the NTFS limit must be 4k. I've checked both requirements on my hard drive settings and both are set just as requested.

I have previously installed games from the app to the same hard drive so this is a new problem. I encountered the problem after reinstalling the whole Xbox app. This I did, because it was the only way to get around the problem where the app freezes all the time.

Hi there Jon welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Unfortunately, I had the 0x80073d13 issue around a year ago. I could tell you all the 10 steps I followed trying to solve it, unfortunately what helped me to solved this was to restart my PC as it comes here:

In the part of Windows 10 click on "Reset this PC" these instructions will help you to solve the problem, you can even leave your important files!

Do other games you own that aren't from game pass have the same problem? Do you have an external hard drive. If a game I install to my external hard drive is very laggy I will move it to my internal hard drive which usually fixes the problem.

This sounds like it's detecting the games from games pass is that from game pass that are installed on your external hard drive?.

Yes, I have an external hard drive connected to my Xbox, and the game appears to be installed on the external hard drive.

Hi, sorry for that issue, the problem is the external hard drive, for some reason (I don't know why), the games that require Administrator approval have issue on external drive.

Thanks for the answer. External hard drive it is not the problem in my case. While trying to find a solution to this Xbox Game pass for PC / Windows Store error I did reinstall Windows 10 on my iMac's internal hard drive. The problem with error 0x8007001f
persists even when Windows 10 is installed on the internal hard drive.

uild on external macbook hard drive/dual boot) Did you figure any solution to this? i can install other games fine but when i try to install halo mcc it errors out at 4.8%
