Xbox Game Pass PC installer broken

Just did 2 Clean installs of Windows 10 1909.

The first install i did all windows updates/Driver updates then installed xbox pc beta game pass then installed 2 games and then attempted to install dragon center from MSI. it installed and then failed to run with the same errors i was getting before.

The second install i installed driver updates and then installed Dragon Center. Configured the system with Dragon Center. Then installed all windows updates, Xbox pc beta game pass and then installed a game and played. Dragon center still worked after playing
the game. once i restarted the computer dragon center was broken with the same errors as before. Something is breaking the program in the xbox pc game pass install.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes PC Game Pass (Beta) so any game in the PC Game Pass library can be installed on your Win 10 PC if you have purchased Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

you can even play Forza Horizon 4 on your PC while someone else plays it, on their profile, on your Xbox One (as long as your Xbox is set as your Home Xbox).

it was in all the advertising and press releases (and a good job for you that it was, as if this truly was a glitch or exploit, your post would have broken the forum rules)

Not sure if this applies to your situation, but within the past year I had an issue installing games for PC using the Game Pass for PC app. I would also get a nebulous 0x800xxxxxx error now and again. Certain games installed without issue, others just would not work.

At the end of the day, I determined that my AV program suite was the issue. I was using ZomeAlarm by Checkpoint. ZoneAlarm just did not play nice with the Game Pass installer.

Just as a helpful troubleshooting tip if you are having a similar issue with AV suite software interfering with Game Pass app. It was not enough for me to just "disable" or "exit" the AV suite and then try GamePass. I had to actually use msconfig to actually stop the AV suite from launching after a fresh reboot. So either use msconfig to completely disable your AV suite or temporarily uninstall it completely and reboot fresh and see if you can get GamePass to work while it is not active.

In my situation, ZoneAlarm must have hooked into something deep enough that once it had a process running or initiated, only a fresh reboot without ZomeAlarm starting up allowed me to use GamePass without incident.

I haven't installed an antivirus yet, I still only have the built in Windows one, so I don't think this is the issue. Thanks for the reply, though!

Have you tried using the Xbox App? That should be installed for Game Pass for PC. If you haven't install it, you can do so at https://www.xbox.com/xbox-game-pass/pc-games?xr=shellnav
