Xbox game pass for pc keeps installing games in the wrong location

If I install a game, the xbox app will install it by default on my C: while my settings request to install to my D:

The C: is a 500 gig SSD so I prefer external SSD to same some space. I have several external SSD's that I use both for work and leisure but for some reason the Xbox products refuse to install games to these external drives.

Pretty weird as all other major platforms have no such issues (Epic, Steam,...) and I have multiple games, softwares, documents,... running from those SSD's.

A couple of weeks ago, it gave me the option to install a game on

Quick flow:

App settings are set to D:

Windows settings are set to D:

Trying to install but default setting is C:

And to top it off, simply does not offer D: as an option when I try to change it.

Any other ideas?

Did you even bother to read my issue?

The issue is that the game will not install in the proper location.

This guide is for when games have issues after installing them.

I didn't install the game as I can't install it in the desired location.

So to reply to your guide:

Did you reboot?

Yes, of course. Step 1 in case of issues. Still can't install in the proper location.

Did you uninstall and try again?

No, as I didn't install in the first place. But I did uninstall the Xbox app and reinstalled it. Still not able to install in the proper location.

I even doublechecked if the drive I'm using is working properly. Just installed a game from the Epic store.

Went straight to the D: drive, no problem.

And as the rest is about solving issues linked to the poor EA play integration, I can indeed confirm this is a customer experience nightmare. It looks and feels like something that you would expect from an indie company in 2004. But as it is actually made by 2 of the richest software developers in 2021, it shows how much they care about their clients.

So back to my initial question:

any ideas?

I did attempt this I even added my account to the list but it still said I did not have privileges to do so. It was when the App was first released though so it might have been fixed.

I did the same, I have installed them to my seconds SSD and theses files appeared and they could not be deleted because they had elevated privileges to protect to content. I had to Format the drive to remove them.

If you install them to the C drive the files are not created.

no need to format the drive just change the security on the folders and then you can delete, its what i always do.
