Xbox game pass for pc: controller not working in State of Decay 2

I have been playing multiple games through the game pass for PC.

However, for some reason neither my PS4 nor Xbox 360 controller are detected by State Of Decay 2.

This issue happened before on rare occasions but by installing an emulator like DS4windows or something similar this can be bypassed.

The gamepass games however are saved in a WindowsApps or Modifyable Window Apps folder where you do not have admin rights to run such .exe files even after changing admin right settings.

Is there a solution of workaround for such issues? I can live with the PS4 controller not working but not picking up an Xbox360 controller which is also a Microsoft product seems weird. (the Xbox360 and PS4 controller are wired and both show up in the basic
windows device list)

Thanks for trying.

I found a solution using another emulator software. I'm now using a PS4 controller with an Xbox one emulator that runs in the background.

The Xbox 360 controller is picked up by Windows 10, but is still not picked up by a selection of games. (the absurdity of a competitor piece of hardware with a freeware emulator working while the official piece of hardware from the publisher that offers the
platform, subscription and game doesn't is beyond me but hey, it works)

While looking online for a solution, I found quite extensive amounts of complaints reporting similar issues, in particular with Xbox exclusive games ported to PC. (all multi-platform games run fine and pick up both controllers)

The game pass adds another layer of issues as the games are installed in a folder where you don't have the rights you have otherwise preventing you to run .exe files from that folder. Quite some emulators require that they are ran from that particular folder.

My issue is solved, but I hope Microsoft can implement a more structural fix for this by the time the game pass for PC comes out of Beta.

I tried SoD2 with a 360 controller and it worked, but control was off a bit, almost too fast.

I will test Gears 5 sometime tomorrow with my 360 controller and see how it works.

Don't expect a reply for a while though, I'm British. I will try for you though.

I have tried Gears 5 this morning with my old wired Xbox 360 controller. Worked flawlessly. All the buttons worked and the controls were fine.

My guess is there is something wrong with your Windows install, or DS4 for Windows has done something to your system configuration.
