Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) Fonts Not Loading

Hi,

I definitely have Segoe UI in my font list, specifically:

• Segoe MDL2 Assets (1 font face)
• Segoe UI (25 font faces)
• Segoe UI Emoji (2 font faces)
• Segoe UI Historic (1 font face)
• Segoe UI Symbol (2 font faces)

I'll look into editing the registry or any PUP programs if the problem gets worse or I find that other programs are having issues.

I can still read the names of the games. I guess I don't mind waiting until the full release/next version of the application (post beta).

I was just hoping there might be a quick fix.

The default font for Windows 10 - which I assume would be the same for Game Pass - is called Segoe UI. Does this font appear in your Fonts list?

Either this file doesn't exit on your machine or you've installed something to change the default Windows font.

Either way there are two potential ways to change the Windows Font, which should be reflected on the entire Windows Interface.

1. Editing the registry. Warning, this can cause system issues if it is not done correctly. There is a guide

here. If your going to do it please do not skip the registry backup.

2. The other option would be via a third party application. However, many of these called 'free applications' can contain
PUP's or Potentially unwanted programs and at worst, malware.
Take caution what you download and install online.

If you can still read what the games are and everything is working, my advice would be to leave it be.

Also note that you only require the app to be running when downloading games. The Xbox Game Pass app is not required to be running to play the games you've downloaded. You can close the app down and your games will still run.

Thank you for the quick reply. I followed your instructions above and restored my systems default font settings. Unfortunately the updated font settings did not fix the problem. I tried resetting my computer after updating the font settings and tried reinstalling
the program again to no avail.

I've also confirmed that this font issue only appears in the Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) program and no other Xbox related PC applications.

If there's anything else I can try please let me know.

Hi,

Rather than go through a laborious task of trying to reset a particular font, I would suggest resetting all of Windows 10's font's. If the Xbox App uses one of these font's it may well fix your issue.

Go to the Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization
-> Fonts;

In the left pane, select Font settings;





In the next window click the Restore default font settings button.

Which beta app are you having issue downloading? The Xbox Console Companion App (Beta) or the Xbox Game Pass for PC app (Beta)? You'll need to have he beta companion app downloaded first before you can download the PC game pass app (beta) and you will also
need to have Windows update version 1903.

Restart your PC and then make sure you have the requirements to download the PC game pass app.
