Xbox game pass doesn't allow me to choose my external HDD for games

When I try to download a game onto my external Hard Drive in xbox game pass it only allows me to download to my C, I want to download to my D. When I go into settings to change what drive it installs to by default it works, then when I try to install a game it only allows my C drive with no second option, and my default drive is reverted back to C. I reformatted my drive to be NTFS as well and the problem persisted.

my computer doesn't have that option for some reason, there are no optional updates for me that give that update and my computer is currently up to date

Select the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Settings.

Select Update & Security > Check for updates.

Select View optional updates, and then select update KB5004476 from the list.

Select Download and install.

Once the update is complete, restart your device.

You should now be able to install, update, and launch games.

Please don't get me wrong but the games really needs to be installed on the default storage which is the C Drive if your PC requires you to install it there.

Try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your preferred hard drive location and then try installing the game again.

Go to Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

Kindly check if there's enough space. If not, try cleaning up your disk to create more space.
