xbox game pass app for pc is using double the space.

It is most likely that you see "two times" the same installation because 35GB would be the game download (like the ISO/.exe, or installation content) and the other 35GB would be the game itself, installed on your PC. The installation content is stored as cache, and it normal for any Microsoft Store and Windows Update downloads, where the downloaded content stays in your PC for some time, until it is automatically erased by Windows. You don't need to worry about this, as those 35GB are erased after some time or you need the space, and Windows will manage that for you.

If you want to erase the Microsoft Store cache, you can go to Settings (Windows 10 app) > System > Apps & features > Click on the Microsoft Store > Advanced options > Reset.

After that, restart your PC and you should get the 35GB back.

I uninstalled some games from my Xbox game pass (PC) using the uninstall option in the Xbox app (on PC).

But the storage space in my SSD did not return to what it used to be, before the game was installed.

We're talking about upwards of 10Gb. It can't be other files because the drive was solely for games.

In order to use Xbox Game Pass on your PC you will need to go into the Xbox App on your PC and log in with the corresponding Microsoft Account to which you purchased Xbox Game Pass on. Make double sure that the email address is correct.

Also be sure to use the Xbox (beta) app if you are not using that yet to see if you can install Xbox Game Pass PC games.

Sounds to me like they aren't signed in with the same account they used before. To download previously purchased games again on a new system or otherwise, they need to be signed in with the same account that purchased the game/s.

Xbox Companion App is for streaming games from an Xbox console to a PC. The Xbox App for PC is used for PC Game Pass, if you don't have Game Pass Ultimate or just Game Pass PC, you don't need to use this app as purchased games can be downloaded using the Windows Store App in Windows 10.
