Xbox game bar won't turn on.

I followed the instructions. The process ended with a lot of errors 0x80073D06. But I still can't turn the slider to the "on" position. Do I need to perform this procedure in powershell in safe mode?

(I also successfully performed DISM and SFC /SCANNOW operations. But that didn't help either.)

Thanks for sharing this. In this case, please try the following steps:

- Go to Start > Settings > Games > Xbox Game Bar > Toggle it OFF.

- Press Windows + R. Type AppData and press Enter.

- Go to Local > Packages. Search for the folder Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay and Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay. Both will have some random numbers in the end. Please rename them and use .old at the end. For example, if one is "Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay_151515", it will be "Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay_151515.old"

- After that, please go to Start > Type PowerShell > Right click it and select “Run as administrator” > Type the following command and press enter:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

- Restart your computer. Go to Start > Settings > Games > Xbox Game Bar > Toggle it ON. Restart your computer again. See if it remains ON or it goes to OFF again and see if the Windows + G combination works.

I assigned a keyboard SHIFT+CTRL+K shortcut. My keyboard is fine. But still can't open xbox game bar. And still, when you visit "settings" - "games", the on / off slider is reset to the off position.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that the command above would give you some errors, it is normal. As long as you ran PowerShell as an administrator and the command finished its work, it is fine.

If nothing worked so far, I would suggest you to reset your operational system. You will not lose your files, games and apps. It will just replace all Windows system files with new ones so any corrupted file will be replaced.

Please go to Start > Settings (the gear icon) > Update & security > Recovery > Reset this PC. Choose Get started > Keep your files > Download from cloud > Follow the instructions.

And are you able to use other combinations with the Windows key like Windows + R?
