Xbox game bar won't record no matter what I do

I only get the "We can't record right now. Try again later." message thingy and no explanation at all. I've searched for this a lot but still can't find the reason. I have tried reinstalling, resetting and repairing the game bar but no matter what I do, it just won't record. I use it to take notes so I need a fast solution for this. Also I'd like to try everything else than updating my laptop. Windows is kind of stupid so they don't think about people with bad computers and I can't do anything when I update and that's why. Also last time I got "0x80004002" error code and there is nothing about it somehow. Thanks.

I assume by the 'playback feature' you mean the record time? The Windows Game Bar maximum record time that can be set is 4hrs. This can be changed in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures.

The Windows Game-Bar uses a video recording codec that requires the file to be finalised in order for it to be saved. This means that either if the recording is stopped via the Game Bar or the recording ends on its own once the maximum time is reached, the file should save. If for some reason there a fault or a system crash, the video recording won't save as it won't complete the 'finalising' process.

Thanks for the detailed response. It didn't help the issue and I still don't have any of the settings pop up. I can access the game bar but it won't let me screen record or edit screen recording settings which are what I need.

OK. not sure what different I done but can now get the game bar to open but it won't record anything despite me tinkering with the settings.

Could someone please share what settings they have to successfully record game play clips.

This was a feature that worked great for me but no longer works....
