Let's try to sign out and sign in both on Xbox Game Bar and on the Xbox Console Companion.

To use Xbox Social features, sign in with your Microsoft account. Press Windows logo key + G to open the Game bar, choose Settings > Accounts, select Sign in, and follow the steps. Game Transcription and Chat – Enable text-to-speech/speech-to-text features for Xbox multiplayer games and party chat. To find your friends:
Press Windows logo key + G to open Game Bar.
Check the Widget menu and choose Xbox Social.
Choose the Friends tab.
Double-click a friend's gamertag to start a conversation, or right-click to see advanced options (invite them to a game, view their profile, and more).
To start a group chat, double-click a friend's gamertag to start a conversation, select Add someone, choose the friends you want to invite and press Done.

Xbox companion app is discontinued, and the "Party Invitations" and "Games" notification settings are nonexistent in the Xbox PC app. Settings for invites and messages are all on the Game Bar app for PC.

I have the same issue, and similar issues in Xbox Game Bar and Minecraft (this last one might be unrelated, or be caused by one of the other problems).

After clicking "Sign in" in the Game Bar, an empty window flashes for a split second and then nothing happens, no error, but I am not signed in. It looks similar to the first link from the original post.
