XBOX game bar says "remember this is a game", wrong wording?

it means the same both ways, could have been added by someone whos first language is not english, that can usually lead to this kind of wording.

It's not a mis-translation.

As you know, Gamebar allows you to record your PC games as video files just like you can do on a console. But, it can also record any PC app too. I've recorded some videos of my desktop apps with this feature. Although these days I use NVIDIA's Shadowplay
as it allows to me to record my entire desktop.

The 'Remember this as a game' option will stop Windows Asking if the app you are running is a game or not if it's un-ticked.

It seems that the issue you are experiencing with the “Remember this is a game” feature in the Game Bar is specific to the combination of your AMD Ryzen 9 7950x3D processor and the Game Bar. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Disable and Re-enable Game Mode: Press Windows Key + G to open the Game Bar. Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) and then disable the “Game Mode” option. Close the Game Bar and then reopen it. Now, re-enable the “Game Mode” option and see if the “Remember this is a game” feature works.
   
2. Disable Third-Party Overlays: Some third-party overlays, such as those from Discord or MSI Afterburner, can interfere with the Game Bar. Try disabling these overlays and see if the issue persists.
   
3. Update BIOS: Make sure your motherboard’s BIOS is up to date. Refer to your motherboard manufacturer’s website for instructions on how to update the BIOS.
   
4. Uninstall and Reinstall Game Bar: Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter. Locate Xbox Game Bar in the list of installed programs, right-click on it, and select “Uninstall”. Once uninstalled, restart your computer and then reinstall the Game Bar from the Microsoft Store.

So I have been struggling with this same issue for weeks and I finally fixed it. What I did was:

-Went to Microphone privacy settings, and I saw both Game bar and Xbox listed separately, however only under Xbox did it say Currently In Use. I figured it should be saying that under Game bar instead so something was wrong.

-I disabled the switch under Xbox

-Then I went into settings, app settings, and chose "Reset" for both Xbox and Game bar to completely clear everything.

-Then I waited a few moments and reopened Game bar.

Voila! its working for me even when the overlay is closed. And under microphone privacy settings it says Currently In Use under Game bar.

You're on Windows 10 and trying to use the Game Bar to capture content from your Java IDE? The game bar, I think, has to have the app set as a game.

Not sure, but I'd check this page to see if you can set it. I think there are some restrictions as to what Game Bar will capture, and I'm not sure your IDE will be allowed to be captured.

I could be wrong on those limitations, I can't find any documentation, but I remember reading that there were some restrictions.
