    Xbox Game Bar Push to Talk function not working


    Push to talk function only works when the overlay is active on the screen and the game is inaccessible. There is no way to actually utilize the Push to Talk function without severe disadvantage.

    I've seen this issue from other users going back to a year ago but have not seen any solutions dating back at anytime. One mod posted a link to an xbox support page but it takes you to a 404'd page.

    Is there an actual fix to this? Or does the Xbox Game Bar development team simply wish to kick the can further down the road?

    [PC] Xbox Game bar push to talk not working in background

    I am having the same issue, this used to work but now I cannot use push to talk in Sea of Thieves unless I toggle the game bar open when in an Xbox Party audio chat.

    I also cannot set mouse buttons as push to talk hotkeys in the Xbox Game Bar settings, only keyboard keys.

    We understand that you are trying to use Xbox Game Bar for PC while in a party. As by default Xbox Game Bar works by overlay the function you would like to use. If you would like to request to have Xbox Game Bar work in background instead of overlay you may send that as suggestion - Xbox Support.

    Should you have issues with the party chat while the game bar is on overlay, we suggest that you enabled, push to talk before speaking to your party. To enable or disable push to talk, in the Party widget, select the Party options … button, choose Party audio, and then select or clear the Enable push to talk checkbox. Push to talk is disabled by default.
