Xbox Game Bar Microphone Issues

When I join a party through the game bar the audio received through my mic doesn't reach the party. The mic works for recordings through the game bar and the mic indicator in the audio tab shows that my mic is functioning, but when I'm in a party I get the "Something went wrong with you microphone" message. I go into party audio settings to fix it, and nothing works. I have tried everything that I could find on different forums to fix it and it just refuses to work. I've even used the repair and reset options in settings. I would appreciate any help I can get.

In addition, you can also check if the Microphone for game bar is enabled under privacy settings.

Go to Settings (press Windows +
I key together) > Privacy.
On the left hand pane scroll down and look for
Microphone.
Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone
to ON.
Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to
ON.
Restart the game bar.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with game bar chat not working.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please check Microphone permissions. Ensure Xbox Game Bar has permission to access your microphone. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and ensure it's enabled for Xbox Game Bar.

And then update audio drivers because an outdated or incompatible drivers can cause issues. Kindly update your audio drivers via Device Manager.

Next is to reset Xbox Game Bar by going to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find Xbox Game Bar, and select Advanced Options. Then, click Repair and if incase it won't work choose Reset.

Then check Party Chat Settings. To do this, open Xbox Game Bar, go to Settings > Party Chat, and make sure that your microphone is selected as the input device.

After that is to check for Windows updates, make sure that your device is up to date.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly test with another headset to rule out hardware issues.

I don't have another headset. It works for discord so I don't see why I would need a different headset for the game bar.

If that doesn't work we could try reinstalling game bar:

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) from the pop-up menu.

Step 2: Paste the following command in PowerShell and hit Enter to uninstall the Game Bar from your system.

Get-AppxPackage *xbox* | Remove-AppxPackage

Step 3: once u installed restart your PC and search game bar on Microsoft store and install it
